Prof. Barranco will explain ho to apply for PAID summer research internships called REUs (“Research Experience for Undergraduates”) and physics & astronomy majors Tonya Peshel & Richard Truong will share about their experiences from summer 2023.

If you want to participate in and get paid for summer research, winter break is the perfect time to find programs to which to apply.  There are REU (“Research Experience for Undergraduates”) sites all over the country. Depending on the program, applications are due between January 15 – April 1. Note that physics & astronomy majors can apply to not only physics/astro opportunities, but also geosciences, atmospheric sciences, engineering, etc. So consider exploring something new! You usually need 2 letters of recommendation, so ask your professors right away!
